We Visited Sorry, Charlie

📍 Kingston · Bar & Pizza

If you’ve been to Goodnight Kenny in Poughkeepsie, you already know the energy. Sorry, Charlie is its sister bar up in Kingston, and it delivers the same vibe with a pizza-first menu to match. It sits right along the Kingston Point Rail Trail, so a walk or bike ride before dinner makes the perfect warm-up.

We started with wings and something called Potato Beignets, which you need to order the second you sit down. Then came the main event: one of their famous bar pies. I went with the Hot Debi with a slight tweak, and it did not disappoint. Crispy, lacy edges, cupped pepperoni, bright sauce and fresh basil on top. Really, really good.

The drink menu runs deep, so there’s something for everybody. My highlight was Pablo Passes Out, which I’d order again without thinking twice.

Inside was packed and buzzing with great music. We grabbed a table outside on a cool fall night, and the patio carried the same energy as the bar. Food was great across the board, and it’s an easy one to recommend whether you’re coming for a full dinner or just pie and drinks.

Good to know: Open daily except Wednesday. Right on the Kingston Point Rail Trail, just off Broadway.

Order this: Hot Debi, Potato Beignets, Pablo Passes Out · 523 Delaware Ave, Kingston

Last Call for Apple & Pumpkin Picking

Picking season is winding down, so this is the week to get out there. A few farms still going strong:

  1. Pennings Farm Market (Warwick): runs into mid-November and is known for benchmark cider donuts. Reservations needed on peak weekends.

  2. Kelder’s Farm (Kerhonkson): the Fall Festival runs through Nov 2, with pick-your-own apples and pumpkins, including later varieties like Fuji and Gala.

  3. DuBois Farms (Highland): free admission, open daily 10–5 through Nov 22, with warm cider donuts, a pizzeria and farm animals.

  4. Hurds Family Farm (Modena): a 7th-generation orchard with apples through Oct 30 and pumpkins now. Wristbands required for ages 3+ (from $5); weekend tickets go on sale Tuesday.

  5. Greig Farm (Red Hook): apples through mid-to-late October and pumpkins through month’s end, so it’s now or next year.

Heading to one of these? Hit reply and tell us which apple won.
